Come and join the revolution as Hamilton starts showing live at the Eccles Theater from July 31st to September 1st. This smash hit musical is one of the first shows to be announced as part of the upcoming ’23-’24 Broadway season at the venue.
This show needs no introduction – Hamilton is a worldwide phenomenon that currently has three US touring casts, an ongoing international tour, sit-down engagements in major cities like Toronto, Germany, Australia, London’s West End, and, of course, on Broadway.
If that hasn’t impressed you, a professionally recorded version of the New York City production is also available for streaming on Disney+. The entire original Broadway cast, including Miranda in the lead role, appeared in this film that was nominated for twelve Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, two People’s Choice Awards, and a Critics’ Choice Television Award.
After its previous two Salt Lake City engagements, back in 2018 and 2020, the show has garnered nearly $75 million into the local economy, shared Victor Hamburger, vice president of Mountain for Broadway Across America. He adds that the musical continues to amaze newer audiences and that their community is fortunate to welcome Hamilton back to the Eccles Theater for five consecutive weeks. “Utahns have embraced this show like no other, and we can’t wait for ‘Hamilton’ to return as Broadway continues to be an important economic engine for downtown Salt Lake City.”
“Audaciously ambitious and supremely executed” – Chicago Tribune
“Bigger and Better Than Ever” – Deadline
“The musical is a triumph” – Hollywood Reporter
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton: An American Musical tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the least recognized Founding Fathers of the United States. Throughout the play, the music revolves around his life and career, from his humble beginnings as an immigrant to his greater contributions to the American Revolution, the writing of the U.S. Constitution, and his role as the nation’s first Secretary of the Treasury.
The world has been charmed by the production’s diverse cast and use of hip-hop and R&B music to convey the historical narrative, making it a groundbreaking and popular production. Moreover, it highlights Hamilton’s complex relationships, personal struggles, and political rivalries, ultimately ending with his tragic duel with Aaron Burr.
Furthermore, The New York Times highly recommends the tale about youthful rebels seizing and determining the course of an unformed nation. With this, the show has gained 11 Tony Awards, on top of Grammys, Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.
Viewers should note that the show will run for two hours and forty-five minutes with one intermission and is recommended for ages ten and up as it contains strong language. Interested in exploring the main cast and core creative team? We’ve got you covered – check the complete list right here:
