Stephen Schwartz & Winnie Holzman, creative founders of WICKED, were inspired by the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West".

This show has been hailed for its expansion of the backstory of Oz, giving The Wizard of Oz fans around the world a look into Glinda and Elphaba (later known as the Wicked Witch of the West). WICKED, despite the main characters starting off as enemies, it's a deep tale about friendship and acceptance. With stunning costume creation and impressive special effects, Wicked guides its audience direct to the wonderful land of Oz!

The show originally premiered in 2003, making it 21 years old. Since its debut, Wicked has gone on to surpass $1 BILLION in revenue on Broadway. Only The Lion King & The Phantom of the Opera have accomplished this remarkable achievement. WICKED has also dominated theaters outside of Broadway, with achievements in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and London.
