Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations is a jukebox musical featuring the band’s music and a storyline based on the book written by three-time Obie Award winner Dominique Morisseau. The original production, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff and choreographed by fellow Tony Award winner Sergio Trujillo, opened in Berekely Repertory Theater in California. After wrapping up in Berkeley, the musical had several performances in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Toronto. In 2019, the musical finally opened on Broadway. Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations won Best Choreography at the 2019 Tony Awards.
