Jo Koy will surely warm Utah's cold weather this fall as he brings his "Funny is Funny World Tour" show to Eccles Theater on November 11. Your Friday night will be filled with the comedian's antics and humorous stories that are surprisingly relatable –– especially to Asian-Americans who grew up in the United States. If you think you've seen enough from The Just For Laughs 2018's "Stand-Up Comedian Of The Year," you are dead wrong. Jo Koy is back on the road with fresh new materials that will make you roll in laughter. We could only hope that his new comedy acts will still pull inspiration from his family because we could never get bored hearing his hilarious stories about his mother, wife, and son. But whatever his acts will be, Jo Koy is sure to give us nothing but the best show! So be sure to get your tickets for the show here by hitting the "Get Tickets" link.
From performing in a Las Vegas coffee house to having multiple Netflix specials, Jo Koy is one of the brightest comedians in today's generation. The Filipino-American comedian takes onto the stage stories about his childhood, family, and son, which he cleverly turns into a comedic resource that will make you tear up from laughing. "By talking about my Filipino family and all their quirks, I wasn't shutting my audience out. I was bringing them in, building bridges between our cultures, and showing how much we all have in common. I wasn't being a token 'Asian comic' in a theme show, and I wasn't doing cheap ethnic jokes. I was telling stories … I finally learned that the best way to entertain tons of people, to transcend categories and even race itself, was by simply being my mixed-up half-breed self," writes Jo Koy in his book "Mixed Plate."
The comedian's big break began with a standing ovation skit on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2005. A feat that only a small number of comedians have achieved. Since then, he has appeared on many talk shows such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. He also has four successful Netflix specials. Because of his unique comedy skits, his tours are constantly sold out. In Honolulu, Hawaii, his show broke records that the mayor's office made November 24 "Jo Koy Day." He has more achievements in his career, but his best is his upcoming movie "Easter Sunday," coming this August 5.
Besides his upcoming movie, Jo Koy is on his tour "Funny is Funny World Tour," bringing a new exciting comedy sketch with him. Salt Lake City in Utah, prepare to roll in the aisles because Jo Koy is coming to Eccles Theater on Friday, November 11. You can now purchase tickets! The "Get Tickets" button is just a click away.
