MJ the Musical is one of the hottest tickets on Broadway. Upon its premiere, it took home four Tony Awards in total, including Best Choreography, Best Lighting Design in a Musical, and Best Sound Design in a Musical. With a score that includes some of the most iconic songs in recording history, the musical has a book written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage. Meanwhile, Christopher Wheeldon, a Tony Award winner, is both director and choreographer. It is produced on Broadway and on tour by Lia Vollack, John Branca, and John McClain.
It’s all about the man himself, Michael Jackson. Dubbed the King of Pop, Michael Jackson first gained notoriety as a member of the iconic Jackson 5 in the late 1960s. He went on to become one of the most influential cultural figures of the 20th century and one of the greatest performers of all time. Websites crashed in 2009 as the news of his unexpected death stunned people all across the world, as they wanted to know what was going on with the well-loved performer. Thirty-one top 10 songs, thirteen Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards, and twenty-six American Music Awards are testaments to his career.

MJ Musical Reviews
The New York Theatre sang its praises in a rave review. They wrote, “”With respect, I wanna keep this about my music,” Michael Jackson (Myles Frost) says near the start of “MJ The Musical.” And that’s what this show, opening tonight on Broadway, certainly does: There are some three dozen songs presented in 135 minutes, with exciting choreography by director Christopher Wheeldon built on Jackson’s signature moves, performed by an energetic ensemble and three different Michael Jackson impersonators – performing as the kid who started and starred in the Jackson 5; the teenager who broke out on his own with Off The Wall; and, most of the time, the King of Pop, who wowed the world with Thriller, Bad, Smooth Criminal and the moonwalk.”
“It’s a rollicking parade of hits, vocal high points, and a sanitized spin through Jackson’s life that sketches demons without filling them in.” – The Guardian
“This show was otherwordly, it was extraordinary and it was just amazing! It really showcased Michael as a person and a creative MASTER!” – BroadwayWorld
